The Board of Directors of the Israeli League (BSL) met in Tel Aviv and decided on an outline for the next three years with the idea of developing basketball while striving to maintain equality and competitiveness as much as possible.

The game format for 2017-18 season will remain as it is currently: three rounds in the regular season, a playoff quarterfinals in the best of 5 games and Final Four where the host venue will be determined by the team that will reach the first place at the end of the regular seaason. The only change in the Final 4 format is that semi-finals will now be played in two evenings.

The called "Russian law" (at least two Israelis on the court at any given moment) will continue in force. The law of naturalization will be annulled and it will not be possible to change the status of a foreigner to Israeli during the season. The Youth Act will also continue in its current form: each team will be required to register one player aged 25 or under and another player aged 22 or under. The number of foreigners on the scoresheet will remain the same: a maximum of five per game. The final date for the replacement of foreign or Israeli players will be seven games to the end of the regular season, instead of five games to end the season so far.

The order of eligibility for European competitions will be determined according to the standings at the end of the regular season, except for the champion who will have the first right to participate in the European tournaments.

The meeting started with the clubs unanimously approving the appointment of the chairman of the board, Shmuel Frankel, for an additional term of four years. After the meeting Frenkel said that "Last April, when the crisis began, I said I would do anything to heal the rifts and prevent damage to the League. We have done everything to reach a situation of balance between the various teams and I am sure that the League and the administration will emerge strengthened from the whole thing, and from now on clubs will be able to work together for a better and stronger League. I would like to thank all the representatives of the clubs who were able to sit together, speak and listen to each other, and also give up here and there for the unity. I thank the representatives of the teams for trusting me and choosing me for another term and I will do everything to strengthen the League, the teams and the Israeli basketball. "
